100% environmentally safe technology for acetylene cylinder disposal

Technovit is the only company in the world to offer certified and environmentally safe technology for the disposal of acetylene cylinders. This technology 100% recycles all parts of acetylene cylinders containing asbestos and asbestos-free material.

Permit for cross-border transport

  •  Transboundary transport of discarded acetylene cylinders requires permits from the Ministries of the Environment in the country of origin, all transit countries and the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic.

Technovit, in cooperation with the waste generator, will arrange all the documents to obtain the permit.

Transport

  •  Technovit will arrange for the cross-border transport of discarded acetylene cylinders to our plant by a certified transport company that has all the valid training and permits for transporting hazardous waste.

Cylinder preparation

  • When the discarded acetylene cylinders are delivered to our plant, they are sorted according to the type of solvent. The bottles are stripped of caps and valves.

Solvent distillation

  • The distillation of acetone from the cylinder is carried out in a water bath. The distillation of DMF from the cylinder takes place in a specially modified gas furnace. The distilled solvents are repurposed for secondary use.

Decommissioning

  • By burning through the valve thread and cylinder body, the cylinders are decommissioned, preventing any misuse during subsequent transport for final recycling.

Melting in furnaces

  •  The degraded bottles are transported, including the steel packaging and porous material, to a certified steel mill where they serve as a basic feedstock.

  • Asbestos is dangerous due to its fibrous-crystalline structure. When melted at temperatures above 1150 °C, its melting point, it is transformed into a harmless inert mineral. The remelting of the steel cladding produces steel for further use in the metallurgical industry, and the asbestos-free porous material produces slag, which is used in the construction industry.
